Removing red wine stains from your wine decanter.

First things first....never use detergent or chemicals as the imperfections in the glass with hold these. You can use warm water and a bottle brush. Depending on the shape and size of your decanter I suggest you might want to pour a handful of rice grains into the decanter, add water and shake vigorously until the stains are gone. Then rinse several times with warm water and ideally, to avoid water stains, your last rinsing is done with distilled water. When empty rinse with water and store it upside down. OR FILL IT AGAIN!!!!!!.

  1. Tannin and other particles solidify in the wine. This may take up to eight years. They should be removed for two reasons - they can taste bitter, and they don't very look appetizing floating around in the wine. To remove sediment you should keep the bottle in an upright position for a couple of days before decanting to allow it to settle to the bottom of the bottle. Then pour the wine slowly and carefully into the decanter all the while watching the neck of the bottle for the wine to become cloudy indicating that the remainder of the wine contains unacceptable amounts of sediment.
